The Philanthropic Recognition Programs team has an exciting opening
for an Associate Director of Recognition Programs. This is a
full-time, permanent position.
The Philanthropic Recognition Programs (PRP) team fosters greater
giving by deepening the relationships between the University of
Washington and its community of supporters by leading University
Advancement's efforts in demonstrating appreciation for the impact
of our donors.
The Associate Director of Recognition Programs is responsible for
stewarding and recognizing the University's donors through branded
recognition programs
(https://www.washington.edu/giving/recognition/) . This role
develops and implements strategies to engage and retain donors,
ensuring they feel appreciated and connected to the UW. The ideal
candidate will be passionate about building relationships, skilled
in communication and experienced in donor relations or
fundraising.
What You Will Do:
Program Development and Fulfillment (55%)
--- Collaborate with frontline fundraisers, including the Office of
the President and Advancement leadership, to personalize donor
recognition.
--- Develop and execute engagement strategies for each recognition
program through personalized communication and event design.
--- Oversee and facilitate internal communications to ensure
Advancement staff understand the UW's donor recognition
programs.
--- Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to develop and maintain
training documents, summary reports and marketing plans for each
recognition program.
Strategy Development (25%)
--- Develop and deliver the strategy for recognition programs by
overseeing the creation and maintenance of existing recognition
initiatives, including maintaining an inventory of stewardship
materials, coordinating with vendors and ensuring contract
fulfillment.
--- Lead the development of recognition program strategies,
including program levels, benefits and public recognition tactics
for the programs overseen by PRP that recognize donors' cumulative
giving, annual giving and consecutive giving.
Leadership and Team Management (15%)
- Manage the Recognition Program Officer, supporting operational
efforts of the Recognition Programs team in collaboration with the
Director of Philanthropic Recognition Programs.
- Provide consultation to stakeholders regarding recognition
projects and initiatives across Advancement.
- Manage the budget for recognition programs, ensuring efficient
use of resources.
Other duties as assigned (5%)
--- Support Philanthropic Recognition Program events & activities,
as needed.
--- Participate in relevant University Advancement and UW
committees, working groups, events and activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree AND a minimum of three years of experience in
nonprofit donor relations or related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum
qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a
license/certification/registration.

dynamic, deadline-driven environment and in an organized and
professional manner.
- Ability to problem solve, take initiative, set priorities and
handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
- Knowledge of fundraising or nonprofit databases.
- Knowledge of alumni relations, development, advancement and/or
higher education principles.
- Ability to lift/move 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds
occasionally for event setup and tear down.
